Support Group welcomes anybody who is a Trust member (or is interested) to join us at any of our activities. During the winter months we have meetings in the evening where speakers are invited to talk on a wide variety of subjects. The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at the Black Bull Ribchester situated off the A59 between Preston and Clitheroe in the centre of

Ribchester village on the crossroads.

The Winter Programme, 2003/2004 is as follows:

Oct 28th - Sara Warren Membership Officer RBST

Nov 25th The Role of an Animal Health Officer, The DEFRA Girls

Dec 16th - Xmas Social with Quiz

Jan 27th' AGM, Lawrence Alderson as Speaker

Feb 241 - Sheep Technology, Anna Marwood (Vet)

Mar 30th - Farming and Politics, John Hesketh; Mayor of South Ribble

April 18th - Workshop 'Judging and Showing' (Sunday)

During the summer months we attend several shows and fairs with a

display of RBST literature, posters and merchandise. Depending on DEFRA

rules livestock are also displayed.

In normal years there are several shows in Lancashire offering show classes for rare breeds, (mainly sheep) which are usually well attended.

There have been classes for cattle and pigs at some shows. The Lancashire Group also run a sheep championship for which points are

allocated from designated shows, it is very popular. During the spring of 2004 we are to hold a workshop at Rookery Farm

Dalton on the different aspects of 'Judging and all Involved', Also the same day we will have a session on showing and presentation of our

prize-winning stock.

More details available in February.

We hope we are a friendly, welcoming group who help and support each other whilst promoting the work of the RBST, but; most importantly

enjoying ourselves.

We have a newsletter that keeps members up to date and informed. It costs £2.50 per year.
